Balm valley authority

Coming up from Valle Crucis and into Avery County, Shawneehaw Creek creates a narrow pass between the meadows of Beech Mountain and Horse Bottom Ridge. It's there that decades of aggregate words and sounds collect and are cared for by the Balm Valley Authority. Poems, field recordings, deep cuts, folk songs, and world music from balsam to sambal. At times the show can be a reflection of the music from skateboard culture. If it were summed up into genres though, you’d find a lot of alternative, punk, pop punk, indie, and some stretches into other areas of music that aren’t necessarily derived from skateboarding. Misc Jazz is a live internet radio show on BACR. Every Sunday at noon I play some music and hang out with a friend or special guest. The vibe can be a little bit new age-y, I do drops and like to make little sound collages live on the air. Sometimes people call in live! I try to play a little bit of everything! Hopefully the show brings some joy, and maybe a weird little sense of community to people! That would be cool!

The Morning Bugle is BACR’s Saturday morning "wake up and get the coffee goin" program, featuring sounds and stories from across the wide expanse of American roots music. The show's title and theme are a tip of the derby to John Hartford and we try to take Ol' Harf's freewheelin' approach to exploring the expansive musical landscape of America, ranging from traditional fiddle tunes to jam heavy psychedelic Newgrass to all points around and in between.
